Welcome to Msuku Media

Msuku Media is a specialist media agency that builds the public profiles of established and emerging South African brands.

The company was founded by Obren Msuku in 2018, and immediately grew a reputation for generating quality exposure for clients across broadcast and niche media.

Msuku Media has a unique understanding of the complex intersection of culture and commerce within South African society. Strong relationships with media producers and content creators allow the company to develop quality communications strategies, supported by excellent editorial content, that speak directly to the target market in the appropriate context, language and style.

Events and Activations

We understand the difference between house and hip hop, Gqom and Grime, Sesotho and Sepedi. Which means we create PR strategies that speak to the target audience in the right place, at the right time and in the right way. Oh, and in the right language – of course.

We’re committed, and we go the extra mile. It’s just who we are.

We partner with a range of expert service providers – from writers to film makers and event specialists – to deliver excellent concepts and content, cost-effectively. All our clients, regardless of size, get the same service, delivered with the same intensity.

The company

Solvency is an innovative new financial services solution that offers crucial short-term insurance cover combined with the ability to save and invest seamlessly. It’s a unique product that helps South Africans protect themselves and their families against key life risks, while still saving for the future.

Solvency clients can choose how much of their monthly car and household insurance premium (up to an average of 45%) is allocated to an Insurance Savings Account (ISA) in their name, in a similar fashion to a medical aid savings account. The decision on how much to allocate to the ISA is guided by how much excess the client chooses to pay in the event of a claim.

The challenge

Solvency’s primary challenge has been creating consumer awareness of the need to prioritise insurance and savings, even within the context of a harshly recessionary economy.

To present an entirely new concept to the financial services market, Solvency needed to do more than simply create awareness. It’s true challenge was to open up and take brand ownership of a national conversation about savings, and on this foundation communicate the power of its innovative new approach.

The strategy

Msuku Media created a PR strategy centring on South Africa’s struggle to create a socio economic structure that enables a middle class savings culture featuring the use of insurance and investment tools. The strategy positions Solvency’s CEO, Mutoda Mahamba, as a thought leader within the national media conversation.
